On Dec. 6 and 7, WJCU 88.7 FM, Auburn Records and Iron Ingo Stührenberg generated record numbers in terms of donations at its annual heavy metal holiday food drive benefiting the Cleveland Foodbank, Friends of the Cleveland Kennel and Lake Humane Society.
Thanks to your help, we were able to raise an all-time high in donations including a record 2,273 lbs. of food collected (1,745 lbs. for the Cleveland Foodbank and 528 lbs. for the Friends Of The Cleveland Kennel and Lake Humane Society) and $4000.17 in cash ($1,592.00 for the Cleveland Foodbank, $1,222.00 for the Friends of the Cleveland Kennel and $1,186.17 for the Lake Humane Society).
“Our cash donation totals skyrocketed this year!” said event organizer and WJCU’s own Bill Peters. “We also had a significant increase of 29% in pet food donations too. The numbers are amazing, especially considering the bad winter weather we had to endure the weekend of our event. Fans still came out regardless to support and donate.”
President and CEO of the Cleveland Foodbank Anne Goodman was more than pleased with the results of the heavy metal holiday food drive.
“Clearly, this whole community is behind what Bill is doing,” said Goodman. “It wouldn’t be the holidays without [Bill]”. Bill’s support and enthusiasm over the years has meant so much to the Foodbank and the thousands of people we serve. We can’t thank him enough.”
Thank you to all of you who went out to the Beachland Ballroom on December 6th and 7th. We could not have done it without you!
