Notifying University Heights residents of a community emergency is now more efficient than ever thanks to an alert system recently purchased by the city. The new notification system allows the city to inform citizens of emergencies by home and mobile phone, email, PDA, and other wireless equipment.
The new service allows safety crews to continue to do their jobs instead of going door-to-door notifying citizens of pressing issues. Allowing the city’s fire and police departments to keep doing what they do best means a safer city, better service and a more informed pubic. Lyndhurst and South Euclid have enjoyed success with similar programs.
Rather than using conventional media outlets to alert city residents, this new system allows information to be delivered right to the hands of those who need it in a matter of minutes.
University Heights also plans on using the alert service to notify the public of issues ranging from boil alerts and hydrant flushing to public meeting times.
