Surfing the web just got a whole lot easier in the Heights as a growing wireless internet umbrella has expanded its boundaries. Now linking communities such as the Coventry, University Circle, and Cedar-Fairmount neighborhoods, this is one of a number of wireless networks sprouting up across the country that has big plans.
Currently encompassing over five square miles around Case Western Reserve University, the WiFi system was arranged by non-profit OneCommunity and is supported by CWRU and Cisco Systems. Linked Communities envisions this wireless network to have huge potential. Included on the laundry list of items the system is slated to benefit are improvements in public safety, service departments, and bettering emergency response systems.
