Since March 20th is the first day of Spring, The Outspoken Cyclist officially emerges from winter hibernation and starts to think about training, advocacy, and the upcoming season of organized rides.
Our first guest is Jim Rutberg, who has co-authored two books with Chris Carmichael of Carmichael Training Systems. The two books, entitled The Time-Crunched Cyclist and The Time Crunched Triathlete, are designed for endurance athletes who want to maximize their limited training time.
Next up is Kate Powlison, who is a Research Analyst for Bikes Belong. Kate tells us about a new grant program being launched, and about the need for hard facts and statistics in the world of bike advocacy.
We end the program with a delightful interview with Rodney Hendrickson. Rodney is ride director for what sounds like a fabulous ride in mid-April in eastern Kentucky. Listen and learn about the Redbud Ride.
